The “OF” System has been installed to monitor the movements of the ancient roman aqueduct “Vergine” section, located below the structure under reconstruction of the new “La Rinascente” headquarters.

Sensors carried out the measures simultaneously, with a frequency of 1Hz. About 300 m of optical fiber and 60 sensors were installed. 60 data per second were acquired by the system that was operational 24/24h, 365d/year.

The sensors used were strain and temperature bare fiber sensors, so as not to alter the structure. Sensor have been connected to a single acquisition machine running the “OF” Software that provides, in real time, analysis of parameters to be monitored.

The installation has been performed in 5 days and the monitoring campaign has last for 38 months.
